Abstract

The work pursues the object of study: gender as a social construction, and analyzes how it is approached from university institutions through concrete actions towards the construction of institutional policies regarding human rights in Argentina. The methodological framework is based on interpretative research, from a hermeneutic phenomenological and evaluative perspective. The sample consisted of 134 state and private universities. The results obtained are consistent with UNESCO, in view of the perpetuity of extreme violence against women and diversities together with the multiple forms of structural discrimination and gender stereotypes that have historically affected, manifested in numerous inequalities in the university
environment. Within the university policies adopted, there is evidence of a weighting on the generation of protocols for the attention of violence and gender discrimination, but we know that this is not enough.

It is evident that there is still a long way to go and in view of this, it is necessary to formulate other mechanisms of greater forcefulness and solvency on the treatment of these inequalities, starting from the generation of regulatory frameworks in the reflection of concrete university policies of action for equity, equality and social justice as a democratic challenge.
