Abstract

The work analyzes the competency development of leadership in university education. Educational leadership is conceived as necessary to articulate and unite educational institutions.
A descriptive study is carried out, based on the advances achieved as a result of research on the phenomenon of leadership and its development in the educational field.
Using a mixed methodology, for this publication the analysis is presented from a quantitative methodological approach for assessment from the academic community's assessment of the leadership competencies developed by the institution through a non-discretionary random sampling of 225 people, closed surveys
and analysis of institutional documentation of the university.
Based on 65 categories of analysis, the variable of educational leadership competencies is observed and measured, from the theoretical categorization, the following competencies are presented: strategic thinking, relationship with people and learning management, with a marked tendency towards the positive perception of the educational community on the institutional development of these competencies. The competence of creation and animation of organizational structures presents a greater dispersion of data, leaving in
value some observable criteria for its development as an institutional challenge.
Institutional educational leadership is built from the community and its needs. It is a complex process that
must be planned and agreed upon from the intention and responsibility for the collective good for the development of educational and social sustainability.
